SDC's dress code is designed to encourage discipline among its students. Instructors are aided by the dress code in that they are able to see the body’s form to ensure that the dancer is moving safely and correctly. A dancer should focus on developing technique and artistry without distraction of loose or cumbersome clothing.
The purpose of a ballet bun is to minimize distraction and for the safety of the dancer during turns.
To ensure a focused learning environment, family and friends may not enter the classroom. Family and friends are invited to see the dancers' progress in an in-studio performance at the end of the week.
For safety reasons, participation in pointe classes will be at the teacher's discretion. We ask that all dancers registering for pointe class have at least 3 months previous pointe instruction. Students not meeting this criteria will be asked to take the pre-pointe class, or to do the class in flat shoes.
SDC caps its workshop enrollment at 30 students. Typically, these students will be divided into two smaller groups, to ensure individual feedback and personalized training. SDC reserves the right to cancel or combine classes due to low enrollment.
Private classes are available to interested students. Please contact your teacher directly for details.
